Madison History

Madison became a village in 1846. On October 9, 1839, Prichett registered Madison’s plat at Dane County’s office. The Milwaukee and Mississippi Railroad, the Milwaukee Road’s predecessor, connected to Madison in 1854 when Wisconsin became a state. As it stands today, Madison is a city in a state of union, with 6,863. 

Madison Attractions

This beautiful city in Wisconsin’s state capital has a vibrant cultural scene with numerous attractions such as the fantastic Rhythm and Booms festival and a huge annual event featuring incredible fireworks and music! Babcock County Park

There is a park named after Wisconsin dairy scientist Stephen Babcock, who developed a way of measuring butterfat in milk on U.S. State Department property bordering Yahara River at its outlet, Highway 51, near McFarland. It also includes an accessible fishing pier and a fish cleaning facility. Twenty-five campsites use electricity as their power. The site also has fully accessible bathrooms and showers and a sanitary dump station.

Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin Estate

A shortlist of attractions at the farm includes the home and other buildings on the site, including a theater, studio, gallery, school, and windmill. Other natural resources include Midway Farms, a dam, waterfalls, and an informative visitor center. The Mansion also offers a variety of tours, including group and private tours. Summer camps are also available for kids with fun activities that take place indoors and outdoors.

Wisconsin Veterans Museum

Wisconsin Veterans Museum displays a great deal of military paraphernalia, presented in fascinating and educational dioramas, which show a big picture of the struggles fought by many citizens from the American Civil War to the Gulf War. The museum has also evolved into an educational center encompassing numerous educational programs throughout the year; a gift shop is on the premises.

Madison Entertainment

Currently, Camp Randall Stadium serves as the Badger football team’s home football team. Anyone familiar with football knows that Wisconsin’s tradition of football is strong. There’s more at camp Randall Stadium than football. You can even see concerts here at Camp Randall Stadium. The Rolling Stones and U2 have both performed in this gigantic stadium!
