In the northwest corner of Broward County is the city of Coral Springs, a suburb of Fort Lauderdale. Despite its name, there are no natural springs in this city. With a population of over 120,000 people, it can be found on many “Best places to live” lists.
Coral Springs History
Coral Springs is a planned city, one of the first ones in Florida. James S. Hunt and Joe Taravella, both successful owners of Coral Ridge Properties, purchased the land from the Lions family and brought modern style and innovation. This was only 50 years ago. Coral Ridge properties built the city’s first real estate office in 1964. They started building roads, houses, even a school originally named Coral Ridge Elementary and eventually skyscrapers.
