Hampton in Virginia is a very special place that is really worth a visit for you and your family in 2021.

Hampton History

Each year the National Trust for Historic Preservation publishes a list of the 100 most important and inspirational places to visit in America. In 2018, one of these places was Hampton, Virginia, the place where the United States of America's history began. After a year of research, the National Trust has named Hampton as the country's best kept secret, a place that is in need of everyone's help. "We had so many nominations, but the way that we picked our winner really showed Hampton's strengths and weaknesses," said Tricia Williamson, director of communications at the National Trust for Historic Preservation. "One of the things we really like about Hampton is how many inspiring things are happening here. There is so much history it has to offer to visitors. There are two museums.

Hampton Attractions

From the city’s thriving tourism industry to its festive and family-friendly atmosphere, Hampton will give you an experience you won’t forget in a long time. One of the most visited attractions in the city is the Hampton Coliseum where you will find many top-notch acts and movies like Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Hampton Transportation Hampton has amazing transportation options. You can either choose from a city car and rental car services like Hertz and Avis or book a luxury car for yourself through Via Transportation. If you are an Islander, you can easily reach most of the Hampton attractions using the Hampton Transit buses, trolleys, the Omni Hampton Resort Train, or the water taxi service from the Hampton Coliseum.

1. Riverview Park – Hampton Home to the only spray park in Hampton, Riverview Park is located on the Hampton River and a short bike ride away from downtown. If the day’s weather is nice, take your boat and go sailing as you follow the Hampton River and it’s many different channels.

2. Louisa Thomas House – Hampton An 18th century home designed by famous architect Christopher Gadsden. If you’re a history buff, the Louisa Thomas House will add an amazing historical perspective to your visit.

3. Downtown Hampton – Hampton Hampton’s downtown has many arts, entertainment, shopping, dining and event venues. Enjoy the cozy atmosphere, sit on the harbor or along the shore, enjoy music or grab some coffee and take it all in.
