Clay County is offering a free summer camp for kids ages 6-12. The camp will be at Hunter-Douglas Park in Middleburg.
The free camp is not for the entire summer. Instead, it's scheduled for June 20-24. This is a half-day camp from 8:30 a.m. to noon.
You must register, and the county says space is limited. Hunter-Douglas Park is located at 4393 Longmire Road in Middleburg.
The kid's summer camp will feature "fun and creative outdoor activities and healthy snacks."
You can register and get more information about the summer camp at firstname.lastname@example.org. Or call 904-284-6378.
The free camp is being offered through a partnership with the Clay County Parks and Recreation Department, Ascension St. Vincent's, the University of Florida IFAS Extension Office, and the Family Nutrition Program.
In addition to free summer camp at Hunter-Douglas Park, kids can also get free school and sports physicals. The physicals will be at the park Saturday, June 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. You don't need to register for the physicals. Physicals are for youths ages 4-18.
A parent or guardian must be present to take advantage of the free physicals by Ascension St. Vincent's.
Student-athletes will need to bring the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) form. In addition, Florida law states: Students must satisfactorily pass a medical evaluation each year before participating in athletics unless the parent objects in writing based on religious tenets or practices.
If you need more information about the physicals, call 904-308-7558 or email Willie.Roberts@ascension.org.
