From Cop to Catalyst: Kevin Donaldon's Mental Health Mission
Kevin Donaldon, the host of The Suffering Podcast and co-author of the highly anticipated book Man You Are Crazy, is not only a former New Jersey Police Officer but also a leader in the reform of mental health challenges. Donaldson committed to transforming his own experiences with depression into a catalyst for change.
After enduring the trauma of an on-the-job shooting, Kevin battled with depression, unaware of how to navigate through the emotional aftermath. However, he refused to let his struggles define him. Recognizing an urgent need to destigmatize mental health challenges, especially among men and first responders, Kevin launched The Suffering Podcast.
Through his platform, Kevin shares poignant stories of individuals who have endured suffering, demonstrating that vulnerability is not a sign of weakness. By openly discussing his own battles with depression, he has become a beacon of hope for many.
According to recent statistics, 1 in 4 first responders will experience symptoms of mental health disorders during their careers. Kevin's mission is to confront these alarming numbers head-on and initiate a cultural shift within his community.
Teaming up with Detective Christopher Anderson, their collaboration Man You Are Crazy seeks to provide practical insights and support for individuals grappling with mental health challenges, offering them a lifeline in their time of need.
Kevin Donaldon is actively working towards rebranding the narrative around suffering and mental health struggles. By embracing vulnerability and sharing his story, he is encouraging others to do the same, paving the way for a more compassionate and understanding society.
As the release of Man You Are Crazy approaches in January 2024, Kevin's journey of resilience continues to inspire countless individuals, reminding us all that it is within our pain that we often find our purpose.

Possible surge in Denver overdose deaths could mean dangerous drug supply
A possible surge in overdose deaths in Denver could indicate some irregularities in the street drug supply, Harm Reduction Action Center warned Monday. The Denver Post reported there have been a dozen outdoor deaths in March in Denver, including nine in a nine-day stretch. “Over the past month, there have been a lot of reported overdoses in Denver being responded to with naloxone by people who use drugs, services providers, and around the Colorado State Capitol,” HRAC Executive Director Lisa Raville said in the needle exchange’s newsletter Monday. “Over the past couple of weeks, we started noticing the public death posts on social media and then multiple sources from the city reached out to let us know they were overdose related. We alerted HRAC participants and other service providers for quick communication. Unfortunately, many in the city have expressed that we will need to wait for weeks and months before they will officially determine these deaths as overdoses. That is incredibly frustrating as we need real time information of the drug supply and the names of those we have lost.”
