Call of Duty Zombies - Der Riese is The Most Satisfying Gameplay

Call of Duty Zombies — Der Riese

The world of gaming changed when Call of Duty released the “Der Reise” zombie map.

It was different from any other experience I’ve had in online gaming because it required lots of teamwork and satisfaction in preparation for hoards of zombies.

Zombie gameplay has evolved a lot ever since Der Riese was released on November 9th, 2010.

There are more complex easter eggs, setups, and variations of zombies in the newer maps currently available, but nothing compares to Der Riese.

The Nostalgic Vibes

I’m sure millions of gamers were around for Nacht Der Untoten, the first Call of Duty Zombies map in World at War.

The fact that I could remember that entire map better than the layout of my own house was a tell-tale sign that I had a unique connection with it.

Starting in the middle of the factory with your team, opening doors, and turning on the power was muscle memory and consistently satisfying.

Purchasing the MP-40, hitting the box, and “jug” were all necessary and satisfying chores on the to-do list.

The Zombies Characters

These are some of the most iconic characters in gaming history.

  • Dr. Edward (The Doctor) Richtofen
  • Nikolai (the drunken-angry Russian) Belinski
  • Takeo (The Japanese Bloodthirsty killer) Masaki
  • Tank (the American Hero) Dempsey Riese Characters

The comments these characters make are so entertaining and satisfying. Each of them says things that give them personality. The Call of Duty franchise has done a good job with the commentary of other zombies maps, but none like Der Riese.

Playing a game of Der Riese always takes me back to middle school days, staying up late at night with my friends playing this mode over and over again.

The fact that all of the characters are different with their own personalities makes them very interesting and fun to see who you get.

Camping on the “Catwalk”

This is by far one of the most satisfying things to do in the gaming world. You get your entire squad together for continuous rounds of camping and mowing down zombies. Riese Catwalk

It’s really satisfying to work as a team to hold down the corner. You can have someone looking out the window while your other three teammates focus on the catwalk staying clear.

Players can get such an adrenaline rush from this experience. Zombies and killer dogs are running at you full speed. It requires tons of teamwork and coordination to survive into the later rounds.

The Grand Takeaway

Der Reise is one of the greatest gaming experiences I’ve ever had, and I can never get sick of it.

If you’ve never played a single round, I highly recommend it — especially if you’ve mostly been playing the newer zombies.

It’s a straightforward mode, simple to understand, tons of fun.
