Have you seen Poetry as public art on Charlotte street?

To create wall poems that bring poetry to the people. The rhyme instances on the walls of Charlotte bring colorful murals to the eye-sighting view. The projects are collaborative and celebrate North Carolina's literary heritage.

Charlotte with a series of beautifully stylized poetry snippets painted onto buildings! Poems composed by North Carolina artists have been painted or printed onto prominent Uptown landmarks. The Wall Poems project leaves no trace of itself on the work, believing only the actual poet on each piece.

The Wall Poems of Charlotte is one of several public displays, including Raleigh’s “Poetry on the Bus,” originated by The Raleigh Review, and Winston-Salem’s “Poetry in Plain Sight,” sponsored by Barnhill’s Books and the Winston-Salem Writers.

Some of the murals’ themes are bright, like the phrase “Picture Me, Picture Us, Picture This,” on the side of a camera shop. Others have meanings that aren’t quite so direct.

It is an incredibly diverse and varied art wall poem on Charlotte streets to explore the local creativity.
