PLAY Airlines is a new airline offering flights from New York Steward International Airport to Keflavík International Airport outside of Reykjavik, Iceland. New York Steward International Airport is in New Windsor, New York. The airport is around 60 miles from Manhattan in New York City. PLAY Airlines now also serves U.S. destinations, including, Baltimore, Boston, and Washington, D.C.
According to PLAY Airlines, “PLAY is a new Icelandic low-cost airline operating flights between North America and Europe. PLAY offers low-cost flights and a safe and pleasant journey in our new and comfortable Airbus aircraft.” PLAY Airlines also states that they prioritize safety: “At PLAY, safety is the name of the game. Our other core values are on-time performance, simplicity, happiness, low prices, and safety. Yes, we said safety twice because that’s how we play it.”
PLAY Airlines currently has online tickets from New York Steward International Airport to Reykjavik, Iceland, for as low as $153 outbound and $152 for a return ticket in the same month — before taxes and fees. PLAY Airlines has similar prices available from Washington, D.C. for May 2023 when service will begin from Washington Dulles International Airport. Travelers can also purchase continuing tickets to Europe and from Iceland, there is access to much cheaper onward flights than are available from the United States.
According to the website for PLAY Airlines, prices do not include most baggage. Passengers must pay separately for a checked bag or carry-on, though a personal item is free. Many snacks are available for purchase but the base ticket does not come with meals or preferential seating.
