Gerrit Cole speaks out against MLB's new substance policy

After his start against the Toronto Blue Jays, Gerrit Cole spoke to the media about his thoughts on MLB's new sweeping ban on foreign substances for pitchers. Pitchers are no longer allowed to use ANY substance, regardless of how long that substance has been in the game. What originally was supposed to target unfair enhancements like Spider Tack has evolved into an overall ban of rosin, sunscreen, and pine tar amongst other things. Despite this, Cole turned in one of his best starts of the season last night, striking out four over eight innings while allowing just two solo home runs. Still, Cole spoke out in frustration after the win, fearing more pitcher injuries and dangerous hit-by-pitches.
