Mets win marathon in Miami, Yankees walk off White Sox

Both the Mets and Yankees are responding well to great adversity. The Mets placed Pete Alonso and Tommy Hunter on the injured list prior to the series opener to put their total at 15 injured players. They'd get six strong innings from Marcus Stroman, and the bullpen shutout the Marlins from the 8th to the 12th. Khalil Lee and Joneshwy Fargas would provide the go-ahead hits to lead the Mets to a 6-5 victory in extras, their third win in their last four. The Yankees would get another great starting pitching performance, this time from Jordan Montgomery who hurled seven shutout innings. The pitching staff has allowed just one run in the last three games. Gleyber Torres would come up clutch twice, with a solo homer to start the scoring and an RBI single to end the game. The Yankees have won four of their last five and can push for the AL's best record even further with a series win over Chicago.
