The Jim Thorpe Fall Festival is a time where you get to visit a cute small town in the Pocono Mountains, enjoy the beautiful fall foliage, and explore the many activities, eateries, and attractions in the area!
The fall festival in Jim Thorpe happens every weekend (Saturday and Sunday) for the whole month of October. So if you miss a weekend, don't worry! Just attend the next one and you're good to go. It's absolutely free to attend but you do need to pay for any parking, food, drinks, or activities you wish to do.
My boyfriend and I went to the Jim Thorpe Fall Festival on October 21st and we were there for most of the day. We arrived in Jim Thorpe around 10:30am and left around 6pm. Be sure to get here early, as there's a lot of traffic going into the main town center and there's little parking once parking lots are full. However, we did manage to find parking in a lot next to someone's house. It was $25 but I only had a $20, and the lovely lady said that was fine.
Once you park, you can really explore the main area by foot. Jim Thorpe is very popular but it's real tiny. All the small town feels and charm, no doubt, even if it is tiny. So make sure you have good footwear, because you're going to do a lot of walking!
Walk down Race St., Broadway, take a ride on the iconic Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway, go on a trail, visit a museum or two, and of course, eat and drink as much as you can! All the while admiring how beautiful the fall foliage is against the mountains and valley of the area. There's a reason why Jim Thorpe is called, "The Switzerland of America".
My boyfriend and I had a lovely time visiting Jim Thorpe for the day. We went on the iconic Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway, ate from food trucks, got some coffee and food at a little cafe, visited the Old Jail Museum, and walked along the streets at the cute houses and stores.
Every time you visit Jim Thorpe, there always seems to be something new to see or do. This time around, we discovered there's a little trail near the train tracks for the scenic railway. Next time we're in Jim Thorpe, we might go on the trail and see where it leads! It's amazing how such a small place can have something new to explore every time.
My boyfriend and I cannot wait until the spring so we can go back to Jim Thorpe for more fun and exploration! But visiting the Fall Festival during the fall just makes this little town in Pennsylvania all the more special.
