Forsyth County Blotter: Drug possession, felony theft by shoplifting arrests
(Forsyth County, GA) Here’s a look at recently released reports from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office:
On July 19, an officer was conducting speed enforcement on Buford Highway at Bonnie Brae Road and observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed.
“I pursued the violator and conducted a traffic stop at Beaver Toyota. I approached the driver's window and immediately smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. The driver also admitted that he had about a gram of marijuana. Upon speaking with the driver, I observed multiple manifestations consistent with impairment. I then conducted field sobriety evaluations with the driver`s consent. After completing the evaluations, I determined the driver was Driving Under the Influence of drugs to the extent that he was a less safe driver and placed him under arrest,” the officer wrote.
During the search of the car, the officer found a pill bottle in the center console that contained three white pills, a light-colored pill, marijuana found inside a glass jar located in the center console, a black loaded handgun found in the bookbag located inside the trunk area of the vehicle and $9,000 in counterfeit money in the front driver side door.
Warrants were taken out against Andre Mejia, 31, for possession of schedule II and IV drugs and a firearm during a commission of a felony.
On March 14, 2023, an officer was dispatched to a shoplifting event at the Kohl`s department store. The officer spoke with the loss prevention officer on duty. The prevention officer said a male came into their store and took multiple pieces of clothing merchandise from various areas of the store, and left without paying for them. The prevention officer provided a video of the suspect selecting items throughout the store.
The loss prevention officer said Kohl`s was tracking this specific suspect that had stolen from multiple Kohl`s stores in the district/region. Derrell Neal, 27, was arrested July 21 and charged with felony theft by shoplifting.
