(Forsyth County, GA) A late-night accident Friday night has left one person dead.

According to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado was headed west on Chattahoochee Road at 10:20 p.m. on September 30, west of Shady Grove Road.

The Sheriff’s Office and fire department were dispatched to the scene.

The Sheriff’s Office spokesperson said the driver of the truck failed to negotiate the curve, and the Silverado left the roadway and struck a power pole.

The truck was operated by Robert Meyer, 33, of Dacula,

Meyer was pronounced deceased at the scene. Officials said speed appears to be a factor in the crash. This case remains under investigation by the Traffic Specialists Unit.

Previous fatal crash investigation

The crash is the latest fatality to occur on the county’s busy roads. On July 14, 2022, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office and Fire Department responded to the area of Canton Highway at the entrance to Green’s Corners Shopping Plaza, where a collision between a truck and a motorcycle had occurred.

A 2021 Harley Davidson Softail, operated by 31-year-old Andrew Perillo of Cumming, was traveling east on Canton Highway after being stopped at the red light at Bethelview Road. A 2004 GMC Canyon, driven by a 16-year-old from Cumming was traveling west on Canton Highway and attempted to turn left into the shopping plaza and struck the motorcycle. Perillo was pronounced deceased at the scene. The teen was uninjured in the crash.

This crash remains under investigation by Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Specialist Unit.
