Flying the Black Flag: Terror on the High Seas is July 10 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cumming LibraryDr. Eugene Van Sickle will explore the real and broad history of piracy between the 16th and 19th centuries, giving special attention to the romanticized figures of the “Golden Age” of pirates in the Atlantic World. The outdoor pool at the Cumming Aquatic Center is open daily through Aug. 3 from 10 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Monday-Saturday, and 1-6 p.m. on Sunday.

Pearls: More than a Gem is July 9 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hampton Park Library. Guest lecturer Dr. Victoria Hightower will broadly cover the Persian Gulf pearl trade through the 18th and 19th centuries, including the importance, extraction history, and legacy of this unique industry.
