Fun in FoCo: lots of outdoor activities to celebrate mom this weekend

(Forsyth County, GA) Have you made plans for the weekend? From fun in the water to crafts to concerts, here’s a look at some events around Forsyth County to enjoy during this Mother’s Day weekend

The Cumming Aquatic Center will open the Outdoor Leisure Pool on May 7. The outdoor pool will be open only on weekends through May 22 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. The pool will be closed this Sunday, May 8, for Mother's Day. The outdoor pool will open daily beginning on Friday, May 27 through Aug. 3 from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday-Saturday, and 1-6 p.m. on Sunday.

An American Red Cross blood drive is being held from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 6 at the Cumming Public Library.

South Forsyth High School continues its presentation of “Bright Star.” The show tells a sweeping tale of love and redemption set against the rich backdrop of the American South in the 1920s and ’40s. ​​Performances will be held on Friday, May 6 and Saturday, May 7 at South Forsyth High School. Luke Latimer will be playing an acoustic set of favorite covers and original music during this year's Mothers Day Festival. His show is Friday, May 6 at 5 p.m. at 3 Oaks Farm in Cumming.

Fiesta Latina 2022 is on Saturday, May 7 at 3:00 p.m. at Cumming Fairgrounds. Ticket prices start at $55.00. There will be live music and entertainment for the entire family, as well as surprises for moms.

Free Comic Book Day is being held all day May 7 at the Hampton Park Library. Drop in for some fandom, fun and crafts.

May the 4th Be With You Crafts is all day May 7 at the Cumming Library for grades K-5.

Sawnee Association of the Arts will present its first ever ‘A World of Art Festival’ on Saturday, May 7 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will be held at the Cumming Arts Center and surrounding grounds at 111 Pilgrim Road. The art festival will feature numerous artist tents, live music and dancing, food trucks and vendors, Plein Air Quick Paint Competition, children's chalk art, Reading Tree, and other family-friendly fun! A free Mothers’ Day concert featuring the Song Symphony Orchestra of North Georgia is on May 8 at 7 p.m. at the Vickery Village Courtyard in Cumming.

Stop by Halcyon for some “Groovin’ on the Green” every Friday and Saturday this month. Take in the tunes from local musicians while enjoying food and drinks from the many restaurants at Halcyon. Get more information about the music series here.
