Fun in FoCO

April is packed with exciting events around Forsyth County. Here are some, many of them free, to keep you entertained:

Hughes Taylor will be performing at ’cue Barbecue in Cumming on April 9 at 6:00 p.m. For details, visit here.

Storytime at Barnes and Noble in Cumming is April 9 from 11:00 a.m.-noon.

The Kiddie Academy in Cumming is holding a STEM Adventures event on April 9 at 10:00 a.m.The free event focuses on children ages two through school age. Children can experience several play activities focusing on STEM education.

Mary Alice Park in Cumming, is now open on the weekends. Seasonal operating hours are 8:00 a.m.- 9:00 p.m.

  • Boat ramps are available 24 hours a day
  • No pets or alcohol allowed.
  • The park is on the western edge of Lake Lanier.

The T James Band appears at Good ol Days Bar and Grill in Cumming on April 9 at 9:00 p.m. The band plays everything from Mother's Finest to Merle Haggard. You can get more information about this event here.

The Cumming Farmers Market is on April 9 at the Fairgrounds parking lot. The event runs from 6:30 a.m. - 11 a.m. The market offers fresh produce, baked goods, and meat products. For more information, visit here.

"Oh, The Places We Go" exhibit is currently showing at the Cumming Arts Center through May 28. For more information and the schedule, click here. The exhibition focuses on artists’ displays of their travels.

Take advantage of the beautiful spring weather forecast this weekend and visit Sawnee Mountain. Hike the nearly two-mile trail to the Indian Seats at the top and take in the gorgeous views of the North Georgia mountains. For more information, visit here.

Stop by Halcyon in southwest Forsyth County for some “Groovin’ on the Green” every Friday and Saturday this month. Take in the tunes from local musicians while enjoying food and drinks from the many restaurants at Halcyon. Get more information about the music series here.

You can practice your poses this Saturday, April 9, at Halcyon by participating in Farm Animal Yoga. Must be age 10 or older to participate. Please complete the waiver before your arrival.

Dress comfortably, and remember to bring your mat and water bottle. Goats, lambs, pigs – possibly even a llama - will be there!

Explore scenic trails at the Big Creek Greenway. Trail hours are 6 a.m.-9:30 p.m. For more information, visit here.

Fabulous us Frozen Girls Day Out is April 9 and 10 at Sweet and Sassy at The Collection (410 Peachtree Parkway). This event includes chilling makeovers with ice queen up-do's, icy make-up, and shimmery nails! Reservations are required, as space is limited. $40 per child. Call 770-781-0300 to reserve.

The Vickery Village Spring Farmers Market is back with seasonal fruits and veggies, eggs, baked goods, and more! Check it out every Thursday from 9:00 a.m.-noon through the fall. For more information, click here.
