JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. – The holiday season is fast approaching, and Jonesborough is gearing up for another heartwarming celebration of Christmas. Beginning Saturday, November 25, the town will host "Christmas in Olde Jonesborough," a month-long series of events transforming the historic downtown into a winter wonderland.

Kick-Off Events

The festivities will kick off on Saturday, November 25, with various events to celebrate Small Business Saturday and the season's spirit. Attendees can stop by the "Shop Small" welcome tent next to the Washington County Courthouse for festive swag. The Heritage Alliance will also host a free reading of the Dr. Seuss classic "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" at the Chester Inn Museum. To cap off the day, the town will illuminate its authentic Fraser fir tree next to the courthouse, accompanied by carols from local students and a special performance from the Jonesborough Repertory Theatre.

Doggone Christmas and Santa's Arrival

The following Saturday, December 2, will bring a pet-friendly event called "Doggone Christmas." Pet owners can bring their furry companions for pictures with Santa, and there will also be a costume contest with categories for the "Ugliest Christmas Dog Sweater," "Best Holiday Costume," and "Pet/Owner Lookalike."

On Saturday, December 9, Santa's Christmas Village will take over downtown, offering cookie decorating, a Santa Mart, and activities for children. Later that evening, the Jonesborough Lighted Christmas Parade will illuminate the streets with festive floats and marching bands.

Christmas Church Tour and Santa Visits

The month-long celebration will conclude on Saturday, December 16, with the Christmas Church Tour, where participants can visit participating churches downtown to admire their decorated sanctuaries and enjoy live music.

Throughout the month, Santa Claus will be available for visits and pictures with children in his sleigh beside the Washington County Courthouse each Saturday. Letters to Santa can also be dropped off in the mailbox by Monday, December 11, to receive a personalized reply from the jolly old man himself.
