BRISTOL, Tenn. – Fresh off a NASCAR weekend following Rhythm and Roots, Bristol, Tennessee prepares to turn up the heat this weekend, inviting residents and visitors to two exciting events that will tantalize the taste buds and entertain the senses.

Bristol Pepper Fest

On Saturday, September 23rd, the city’s 6th Street will become a hotspot of flavors and fervor with the 5th Annual Bristol Pepper Fest. Organized by the spirited community-focused group, Believe in Bristol, this event is free to the public and boasts a range of attractions from culinary demonstrations and live music to the fiery Triple Atomic Wing Challenge.

Quaker Steak & Lube presents their heart-pounding Triple Atomic Wing Eating Contest for those with a penchant for spice. These aren’t just any wings, though. Infused with the scorching intensity of scorpion pepper venom and concentrated capsaicin and artfully balanced with a hint of wild berries, participants are in for an unforgettable heat experience. Interested contestants are urged to register quickly, as spots are filling rapidly.

Meanwhile, Only Burns Twice Chili Peppers is challenging daring souls to its Ultimate “Beat the Heat” Pepper Eating Competition. With a deck of 10+ ultra-hot peppers, participants are sure to break a sweat! Pre-registration for both eating competitions is live on the Believe in Bristol website.

Adding a digital twist, the Bristol PepperFest Spicy Scavenger Hunt is underway. Downtown visitors can hop onto the GooseChase app and embark on a quest, snapping selfies with spicy delights from local eateries to win enticing prizes.

Maggie Elliott, Believe in Bristol's Executive Director, proudly remarked on the growth and community spirit of the event. "Our organization is truly community-driven," she said, "and this event exemplifies the importance of community involvement." But that's not all!!!...

Hoppy Possum Festival

Anderson Park will host the Hoppy Possum Festival on the same day. A craft brew enthusiast's paradise, this festival gathers amateur brewers nationwide, offering attendees the unique opportunity to savor one-of-a-kind beer, cider, and mead creations.

The stakes are high with a whopping $10,000 in cash prizes. Festival-goers will have the privilege of casting votes for their preferred brews. And beyond the brews? Groove to live music by artists like Supatight, The Future 26’s, and Shuffler Sound System. A diverse food truck lineup ensures a gastronomic delight with options ranging from The Whiskey Kitchen to The Land Shark.

Lodging partners Fairfield Inn and Suites and Hampton Inn in Bristol offer discounted group rates for attendees. Mention “Hoppy Possum” when booking to secure the special price.

Heartfelt gratitude is extended to the generous 2023 sponsors, including AtlanticAleHouse, Michael-Waltrip-Brewing, and INKBIRD.

For all those eager to experience the symphony of flavors, competitions, music, and community spirit, Bristol, Tennessee is the place to be this weekend!
