That's right, the mall on North Roan Street in Johnson City is getting docked. You'll find the Tri-Cities Boat Show back at the mall this year. Mall Patrons will find the Boat Show this coming weekend, April 16, 17th, and 18th in the parking lot.

Rising tides

Bennington Marine brings the boat show with great timing. Lake levels are rising on Boone Lake, along with TVAs other lakes in the area. Johnson City area waterfronts are ready and primed for outdoor activity. Spring and summer have us longing to be outside and enjoying the weather - and the water.

The TVA Boone Lake Reservoir will be near full-pool this year, and work on the Boone Dam nears completion. TVA engineers will be evaluating the repairs to the dam and its infrastructure this year. Renovations and upgrades should are on schedule to finish next year. The swimming beach should be not on this year's agenda, but that won't stop many local marinas from going all out.

What floats your boat

The Boat Show at the Mall in Johnson City will be an event full of sales people to answer questions about boats. They will also have people on hand to talk about services provided. Other sponsors will be on hand in support of the event - these include Johnson City Ford and Johnson City Toyota. Other vendors in attendance include Sound Decision, Rockingham Marine, and Carefree Boat Club.

As the mall gets swamped with people looking at the new boats and shopping, they'll see dining. This year's event includes not only the great food in the food court. Patrons will see Chicken Salad Chick and Chipotle at Sear's Auto Center 's old spot.

Outdoor dining

Outdoor options will be present this year. David and Maria Martinez of Food Truck Junction have arranged for at least four food trucks to be on site. These mobile culinary units get inspected by the Department of Health for sanitation. They are also inspected by the Fire Marshall's office for safety - so you are in good hands. They local food trucks have a solid reputation for good food.

We hope the weather holds out and give us a plenty to shine about. We can all use another reason to get out and about safely. Get some fresh air in your lungs and a little son to warm your bones and put a glow on your face. It's good for your health - in moderation.

Wether you're just looking to get out and browse for some ideas, or dreaming about owning one the boats draw a crowd. The good food on hand is another reason the lots see a bit of action. There aren't people waiting around because they enjoy standing. The food on hand and served is delicious. If you have a particular food you like, it'll most likely be on hand here - apart from fine dining.
