I write extensively about the Cracker Barrel restaurant chain. In recent months, most of my articles on the subject have detailed unexpected restaurant closures. This piece, however, is different as it serves note of a failed inspection of a longstanding Cracker Barrel location.
Firstly, per ScrapeHero.com’s most recently-updated count of operating locations: There are 660 Cracker Barrel restaurants in the United States as of July 05, 2023. The state with the most number of Cracker Barrel locations in the US is Florida, with 60 restaurants, which is about 9% of all Cracker Barrel restaurants in the US.

Cracker Barrel, 2023
According to a July 27th report from Localsyr.com, the released Onondaga County Health Department inspection reports were for restaurants checked during the week of July 9 through 15. Cracker Barrel Old Country Store had several violations but one was critical: The improper cooling and refrigerated storage of potentially hazardous foods.
This critical violation has since been corrected.
LocalsYr.com lists the restaurant location’s other violations:
- Improper cleaning, washing and sanitizing of equipment and utensils. This violation was found two times.
- Improper sanitary facilities and controls.
- Improper construction and maintenance of physical facilities.
It is unclear as of press time if this location will temporarily close pending full compliance.
