Introduction

Wikipedia features a comprehensive and well-attributed profile of the H-E-B market chain: H-E-B Grocery Company, LP, is an American privately-held supermarket chain based in San Antonio, Texas… The company also operates Central Market, an upscale organic and fine foods retailer.

H-E-B reportedly donates 5% of pre-tax profits to charity, and now comes word that a new H-E-B fulfillment center is opening this summer.

Employees are sought to fill open, non-automated positions.

Firstly, per ScrapeHero.com: There are 325 HEB retail stores in the United States as of May 16, 2023. The state with the most number of HEB locations in the U.S. is Texas, with 325 retail stores, which is about 100% of all HEB retail stores in the U.S.

Let us explore.

H-E-B, 2023

Newsroom.HEB.com lists the following upcoming Texas locations for 2023: McKinney (opening “later this year”), Allen (opening this summer), and Alliance (opening this spring). Per a report published by DallasNews.com, “H-E-B to Start Building Its Second Frisco Store as Soon as June,” another store is scheduled to open in 2024.

As to the titular location focused upon in this piece, the aforementioned H-E-B fulfillment center, the entity is scheduled to open this summer. A May 31st report from DallasNews.com, entitled “H-E-B Opens its First North Texas E-Commerce Center in Plano,” details current plans.

As excerpted from the report: H-E-B is opening its new e-commerce fulfillment center in Plano this summer, but that doesn’t mean people in Dallas will be eligible for its grocery deliveries yet. The facility is hiring 125 people to take over more of the delivery and curbside business for H-E-B’s Plano and Frisco stores and two more that open this summer, first in McKinney and then in Allen.

The 55,000-square-foot fulfillment center will be reportedly attached to the Plano store on the southwest corner of Preston Road and Spring Creek Parkway.

In terms of logistics, the report goes on to detail a more efficient operation and quotes Kedar Patel, H-E-B’s group vice president of e-commerce fulfillment: The goal is to make orders faster, and more accurate with fewer substitutions, but also to free up store aisles and to give employees more time to help in-store customers, he said. Robots will retrieve items from bins and deliver orders to an employee at a packing station... Deliveries to customers’ homes will be made by H-E-B drivers in regular vehicles that aren’t refrigerated.

Check HEB.com for hiring details.
