I write extensively about the Olive Garden restaurant chain for NewsBreak. In recent months, most of my articles on the topic have detailed recent restaurant closures. This article, however, will be different as it details a new Olive Garden opening.

Firstly, per’s most recently-updated location count: There are 906 Olive Garden restaurants in the United States as of May 10, 2023. The state with the most number of Olive Garden locations in the US is Texas, with 106 restaurants, which is about 12% of all Olive Garden restaurants in the US.

Now, a new Iowa location has officially opened, this one in Des Moines.

Let us explore further.

Olive Garden, 2023

According to a report from, entitled “Olive Garden Opens a Third Des Moines-Area Location, This Time in an Italian Neighborhood,” most of the nearby restaurants also serve Italian food.

As excerpted from the report: Olive Garden Italian Restaurant opened a 6,500-square-foot restaurant at 6157 S.E. 14th St. in Des Moines. Darden Restaurants, the parent company of Olive Garden, debuted the restaurant in the parking lot of the strip mall that borders East Army Post Road near a Domino’s Pizza and an Applebee’s Grill & Bar.

The report went on to state the new Des Moines entity had been highly-anticipated. The address of the new location is 6157 S.E. 14th St.
