Introduction

Wikipedia features a comprehensive and well-attributed overview of The Buckle clothing chain: The Buckle, Inc. is an American fashion retailer selling clothing, footwear, and accessories for men, women, and children... Buckle markets brand name and private label apparel, including denim, other casual bottoms, tops and shirts, dresses and rompers, sportswear and athleisure, outerwear, footwear, swimwear, fragrances, sunglasses, bags and purses, wallets, and other accessories.

The entity was founded in 1948, and operates under the names Buckle and The Buckle.

Per Corporate.Buckle.com: The Company currently operates over 449 stores in 42 states, under the names Buckle and The Buckle.

Now comes word that a longstanding mall-based Buckle location is permanently closing.

Let us explore further.

The Buckle, 2023

According to a report from BestLifeOnline.com, entitled “Clothing Chains, Including Gap and J.Crew, Are Closing Stores, Starting Sunday,” Buckle is but one of several chain retailers closing stores in the next few weeks.

As excerpted from the report: Buckle announced that it is shuttering a location in Charlotte, North Carolina, also on Sunday, local NBC-affiliate WCNC reported. The fashion retailer confirmed that its store at the Northlake Mall will shut down through a statement on its website. "We are closing this location at the end of day March 26," Buckle wrote. "We invite you to visit us at one of our nearby locations."

An Apple store had recently closed in this mall due to a spate of gun violence.

The report went on to state: WCNC reported that the Charlotte mall has experienced three shootings since Dec. 2022, drawing concerns about the safety of shoppers and employees.
