Introduction
I write extensively about the Walmart superchain for NewsBreak. Of late, most of my articles on the subject have detailed a spate of upcoming store closings, inclusive of pick-up and delivery entities.
This current piece continues that trend as March 24th will see the next two full-sized Walmart store closures, both in the state of Oregon.
Let us explore further.
Walmart, 2023
According to a report from BestLifeOnline.com, entitled “These are All the Walmart Locations Closing by the End of March,” 580 employees will be displaced between the two entities — with options to transfer to other locations — and both associated pharmacies are closing the same day. It is said prescriptions will transfer to nearby Walmart stores in each instance.
As excerpted from the report: In an email to Best Life, a Walmart source confirmed that the Walmart Supercenter at 1123 N Hayden Meadows Drive in Portland, Oregon, will close to the public on March 24. According to the source, Walmart made the call following a review process evaluating a range of factors, such as how the store has performed over the years and how it's performing now.
The report goes on to state: Walmart is closing a second Supercenter in Portland, Oregon, this one located at 4200 SE 82nd Avenue in Eastport Plaza Shopping Mall. This store is just over 12 miles from the Hayden Meadows location. Much like the Hayden Meadows Walmart, the Eastport Plaza location is considered underperforming, with both the retail store and pharmacy to close permanently on March 24.
Conclusion
The ongoing spate of Walmart closures is a developing story. In the event of pertinent updates to this matter, inclusive of progress and official announcements of milestone dates, I will share them here on NewsBreak.
