Introduction
Wikipedia features a comprehensive and well-attributed overview of the Bojangles chicken and biscuit restaurant chain: Bojangles OpCo, LLC., doing business as Bojangles (known as Bojangles' Famous Chicken 'n Biscuits until 2020), is an American regional chain of fast food restaurants that specializes in cajun-seasoned fried chicken and buttermilk biscuits that primarily serves the Southeastern United States. The company was founded in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1977 by Jack Fulk and Richard Thomas.
Per ScrapeHero.com: There are 789 Bojangles stores in the United States as of January 12, 2023. The state with the most number of Bojangles locations in the US is North Carolina, with 340 stores, which is about 43% of all Bojangles stores in the U.S.
Now comes word of an active company expansion that in the next several years will not only add multiple new locations to the growing entity, but will grow its footprint especially in the Baltimore area.
Let us explore further.
Bojangles, 2023
According to a February 2nd report from FoxBaltimore.com, “Bojangles to Open Five Restaurants Throughout the Baltimore Area,” the popular chicken and biscuits chain is adding to the area’s compliment of Bojangles restaurants.
As excerpted from the report: Bojangles announced Thursday that Makhan S. Matharu, Baljinder S. Matharu and Amaritpal S. Matharu Foods, LLC has committed to opening five restaurants throughout Baltimore over the next five years. Some of the new restaurants will be located in Hagerstown and Frederick, Bojangles said.
Today’s story from CBSNews.com, “Bojangles to Open Five New Restaurants in Baltimore,” elaborates on the matter.
From CBSNews.com: There are five existing Maryland locations in Hillcrest Heights, New Carrollton, Upper Marlboro, Landover and Oxon Hill. It's unclear where the new locations will be. The news comes after another southern fried chicken joint, Raising Cane's, made its Maryland debut in Towson to much excitement.
The company has not made any formal announcements, as of press time, regarding expansion outside of the Baltimore area. However, as a targeted Google search will verify, industry analysts expect more moves to be announced in the near-future.
