Spending some time at your local general store can be a cool way to spend your day. There's always something interesting to find and can be a good alternative to bigger grocery and retail stores.
In the great state of North Carolina, there are a ton of amazing general stores, but there's one that is a must-visit.
It's called Priddy's General Store in Danbury, NC.
One website says, "Priddy's General Store was built in 1888, is a cornerstone of the community. In addition to stocking a healthy supply of housewares, essentials, and penny candy, Priddy’s has live bluegrass Memorial Day Weekend, every Saturday in October and every Friday night in February, and Santa shows up for Christmas in December. It's the place to be in Danbury, North Carolina!"
"Take a step back in time in a third-generation, family-owned general store. Built in 1888 and one of Stokes County’s historic landmarks, this store is packed with some of everything from the past and present," the general store's website says.
The general store is open from 9 am to 6 pm on Tuesdays through Saturdays. They close at noon on Mondays and are closed on Sundays.
Their website also says, "The store has been owned and operated by the Priddy family since 1929. Like many stores of the era, it was more than a location to acquire the staples needed to survive, it provided news, entertainment, and a sense of belonging to the community."
"Stop by and see why there is so much nostalgia attached to this general store and if you are lucky, you will find something cooking in the big black pot and music on the lawn," their website goes on to say.
