A South Florida preacher has been arrested again on brutal assault charges after allegedly strangling a woman in Broward County
His Instagram feed claims that he's an Apostle and a man of God. But his actions so far have proven otherwise. Damion Orlando Archat is a South Florida pastor who preaches at several different churches in the Miami area. And back on October 11th, 2021, he was arrested for allegedly attacking a woman who was seated in her car.
While some details about the altercation, as well as the woman's identity, are yet to be released, we know that the arrest report claims that Archat approached her, grabbed her by her hair and began pulling it, then grabbed her shirt and pulled her out of her own car.
When the police arrived on the scene, Archat had to be physically restrained and taken to the ground. During this altercation with Broward County Sheriff's Deputies, Mr. Archat is alleged to have resisted arrest.
But guess what...
This isn't the first time this has happened with this pastor. There seems to be a pattern with Mr. Damion Orlando Archat, as he was convicted of a similar crime back in 2019. He choked a woman in Boca Raton, Florida back in 2019 and was arrested for that. Even worse? Her three children looked on as he did it.
It's been reported that:
Back in 2019, Archat stole the woman's phone after he assaulted her. She had to take her kids to Boca Raton Regional Hospital in order to call 9-11. He was later booked on charges of domestic felony strangulation, but those charges were dropped on October 5th of 2020, after Archat completed an intervention program designed for veterans.
This time around, Florida Deputies said that Archat attempted to resist arrest when the time came to take him in. They had to wrestle the pastor to the ground to get him under control.
Therefore, he was arrested on charges of battery, four counts in total, with one being battery by strangulation, which is a felony, and resisting arrest after he refused to comply with officers' commands.
As the Sun-Sentinel reported:
Deputies said Archat resisted when they tried to place him under arrest, and they had to take him to the ground to gain control. The name of the woman is not included in the police report because of Marsy’s Law, which protects the identities of crime victims and their families. Archat is charged with four counts of battery, including domestic battery by strangulation, a felony, and resisting arrest. Archat, who is a preacher and has several videos on various sites, is married to North Lauderdale commissioner Dr. Regina Martin, according to the city’s website and Archat’s social media.
Monday’s arrest was his second in two years on a domestic strangulation charge.
His Instagram and YouTube accounts hint at the fact that Mr. Archat may have been trying to become a micro-influencer of sorts on social media. He advertises relationship programs for faith-based marriages, with one ad on his Instagram titled Marriage & Ministry.
Mr. Archat got off easy last time. But something tells me the Florida courts won't be so kind this time around, especially considering there have been two incidents within the past two years.
