At least five people were injured, one critically, when a car crashed into a local Verizon store in the City of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, on Thursday, April 27, 2023.
According to a news release from Fond du Lac Fire Rescue, the incident occurred at 12:25 p.m.
Fire Rescue responded to "a vehicle which struck a building," the release says.
Fond du Lac Fire Rescue also released a series of photos showing the car inside the Verizon store, surrounded by shattered glass. Photos also showed emergency personnel at the scene, and contained an outside shot of the store that showed where the car smashed into the building.
"Fond du Lac Fire Rescue responded to the Verizon Store at 467 N. Rolling Meadows Drive for a vehicle which struck the building," the release adds. "Upon arrival crews found the vehicle had fully entered the building at a high rate of speed injuring several people."
According to the release, "one critically injured person was transferred to Theda Star Helicopter which landed at the Fond du Lac County Airport. Four other patients were transported from the scene to a local hospital by Fond du Lac Fire Rescue Paramedic Ambulances.F ond du Lac Fire Rescue was assisted by Theda Star Helicopter, North Fond du Lac Ambulance, City of Fond du Lac Police, Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department, and Wisconsin State Patrol."
The release did not explain the reason for the crash or release names of the driver or victims. Ages of those involved and hometowns were also not released.
