The partner of slain Cameron, Wisconsin, police officer Hunter Scheel is mourning her "soulmate," saying, "I am absolutely heartbroken."
Camryn Gosdeck posted the lengthy tribute to Scheel on Facebook. Scheel is one of two Barron County police officers shot to death in a traffic stop, according to the state Department of Justice. The other was Chetek Police Officer Emily Breidenbach. The suspect, identified by DOJ as Glenn Douglas Perry, is also deceased.
"It is with a heavy heart to share that my love, my soulmate, and my best friend made the ultimate sacrifice doing exactly what he was meant to do, help others," Gosdeck wrote. "Hunter Timothy Scheel meant so much to so many people and left anyone he encountered with a laugh and a smile. Hunter was a living blessing who cared so deeply for those he loved. Not only was he an officer for the Cameron Police Department, he also served for the Army National Guard and volunteered himself to serve in Afghanistan."
She continued, "He knew me more than I knew myself and always knew exactly how to cheer me up when I was upset or feeling down. I couldn’t have asked for a better partner. We had so much planned for our future and looked forward to growing old with one another. Because of this, I am absolutely heartbroken and never knew I could feel such an immense pain as having my other half ripped from me. My heart hurts for him, for his family and anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him."
Continued Scheel's partner, "At this time, we don’t have many details. Please keep Hunter and Emily and their families in your thoughts and prayers. Please thank your first responders and veterans when you see them. Please hug your loved ones tight. And please show kindness in every encounter you have."
She concluded: "Hunter, I love you with my whole heart. I don’t know what to do with myself as our future has been stripped away. Only time can heal the hurt I am feeling. I hope you are having the best conversations with Jesus and my Grandpa. I feel your presence in the wind and see you in the birds that fly by. I love you, I love you, I love you my baby."
