Police in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, say a woman was shot in the chest after the is accusing of charging another person with a large metal pogo stick.
A police news release said that the incident occurred on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, along Stoney Glen Circle.
According to the Winston-Salem news release, the shooter is claiming self-defense. It's not clear whether any charges will be filed against the shooter at this time as a result.
The Winston-Salem police news release said that the woman who was shot was from Winston-Salem and is 29 years old. She had been shot a single time in the chest, the police said in the news release. The news release did not give the gender of the person who opened fire.
The Winston-Salem police news release also did not name the woman who had the pogo stick or the other woman, but they said in the news release that the two began fighting in the parking lot of a home, along with other people.
That’s when, North Carolina police say, the woman picked up a metal pogo stick to charge the suspect with, according to the police news release, which says the suspect was armed with a handgun.
MyFox8 reported that no charges have been issued at this point in time and that police recovered the “pogo stick” along with a Ruger 9mm handgun. An on-call representative with the district attorney's office determined no charges would be filed at this time, according to the television station's report.
