Fredericksburg, Virginia, police are offering a cash award for help identifying the person who murdered 18-year-old Jasiah Smith, who was found deceased in a parking space.
On March 29, 2023, police wrote in a news release: “It has been three days since the fatal shooting of Jasiah Smith in the City of Fredericksburg. In an effort to bring justice to Jasiah and closure to his family, the Fredericksburg Police Department is offering a cash reward for any information leading to the arrest of his killer.”
The Fredericksburg Police Department “continues to investigate the fatal shooting of Jasiah Smith that occurred Sunday, March 26, 2023,” police wrote in a news release.
At 2:56 p.m., the Fredericksburg E-911 Center “received a call for shots fired in the 400 block of Chadwick Court. Patrol officers arrived at 2:59 p.m. to discover a male unresponsive, lying in a parking space with multiple gunshot wounds,” they wrote.
“Patrol officers performed CPR and provided life-saving measures until EMS arrived and transported the victim to a nearby hospital. Patrol officers set up a perimeter around the scene, interviewed bystanders, and began the investigation while a detective was requested to respond to the incident.”
