Wanting to have an amazing breakfast? Well, the good news is you're absolutely in luck! Here are three handy options you need to try!
This old-school diner is a classic in Akron. Fred's is well-known for the best breakfasts in Akron. They are opened from Friday to Sunday from 3 am to 3pm, with breakfast available all day. Their hashbrowns are delicious, and their eggs are also a must try as they are always cooked to perfection. The helpful staff is quick to pour hot coffee in your cup . If you're looking for a lunch instead of breakfast, they also have an incredible spinach salad and awesome burgers too.

When you drive up, u will not be impressed. Looks like a run down building. Well it kinda is lol. But open that door and let the smells suck you in. Steaks grilling, home fries frying. You forget really fast about the exterior. I got a breakfast sandwich with home fries. My sweetheart got the chicken fried steak breakfast. That steak was so tender n juicy you didn't even need a knife to cut it. Crispy home fries. Delicious. We both did our best to devour everything. He won. Mine is in the fridge. So good we went back another time during our 3 night stay in Akron area. I suspect they do every bit of a great job with the lunch items. Prices under $10. Can't lose here. Summer D.
The Blue Door Cafe
Blue Door doesn't look like a breakfest destination. In fact, there isn't even a sign. It's just a smaller resaurant with a blue door. You'll likely know you're at the right place because the parking lot is always full and there is often a line out the door. Is it worth the wait? Absolutely! This French cuisine restaurant is one of my favorite places to enjoy a great brunch. The dedicated kitchen team is lead by a U.S. Marine who is proud to deliver the best food around.
On the Brunch Specialties Menu, check out the south tirolean breakfast spätzle. It's a traditional spätzle sauteed in a rich carbonara with organic corn, leeks, blistered tomatoes, & red & golden beets, and crispy pork belly lardons (humanely raised, antibiotic-free berkshire pork) and poached free-range brown egg. I'm getting hungry just writing about this.
Any local already knows the deal, it's easily 5+ stars. The food here is just absolutely incredible and there's no other way to put it. It's tough to get in here sometimes but I guess that makes it more special! They have a live waitlist you can join right from Yelp. They also are doing a limited menu for drive thru which is pretty awesome. The avocado toast with the tomato soup side has been my favorite - I get the whole grain bread with it and it's the best bread I've ever tasted. It is so THICK and soft omg!! It also full of wheat & grain which I love. Go try them now if you haven't already!! Emily T.
Asterisk Coffee Bar
Make no mistake about it, Asterisk serves up the best coffee in town. I wrote more about this here. But they also serve up an amazing breakfast. You can get toast, granola or a paleo mix here. I've only had the toast and I am basing this on my experience with the toast alone. Yes, it's THAT good. I opted for the cinnamon sugar toast. Two slices for $4.50 might seem a little steep until you actually get it. The pieces are huge and filling. And the taste is great too. Think texas toast but even better and so good. Combine this with the coffee and that's why they are on the list. I'm sure the specialty toast (sweet or savory) is great too. Try visiting Asterisk for breakfast sometime. You'll be glad you did!
