Where Can You Really Get The Best Food At A Sit-Down Restaurant In Akron?

Jim Woods

When it comes to the best restaurants in Akron, there are have opinions. For example, many people will say that Swenson's is one of the best restaurants in town. However, I'd say that Swenson's is more of a drive-in than a restaurant because you eat inside of your car. When I'm talking about restaurants, I mean sit-down style restaurants with a server and without a drive-thru. So, here are the top three restaurants in Akron.

Lock 15 Brewing

Lock 15 Brewing Co. was born at a Christmas party in 2010. Owners and cousins Colin Cook and Joe Karpinski were celebrating with some Christmas Ale homebrewed by Joe. The restaurant is an open expo style kitchen that keeps onlookers entertained, as food is prepared in full view of the dining room. Some favorites include street tacos with shrimp or chorizo, corn salsa. green mole, pickled red onion and cilantro. If you want something else, I'd go with the Nashville Chicken which includes half of a chicken, pearl sugar waffles, roasted tomatoes, panzanella, gorgonzola cream and pickle chips. And don't forget the Lock 15 burger which has a brioche bun. lettuce. onion. house pickles. smoked cheddar and horseradish aioli. It's great!

This place was by far really awesome! It definitely exceeded my expectations. I came here over 4th of July weekend for my vacation. The waiter and staff here were awesome and made us feel comfortable. Definitely reccomend this place! Howard L.

Crave is kind of hard to explain. The menu is diverse and even elegant, but without being too fancy. There are many global influences which are presented in a colorful, contemporary, art-filled setting. As far as the food goes, let me give you an example of a new item on the menu. It is the butter poached street corn trio. This side includes three ears of corn. One is whipped blue cheese and bacon. another is chermoula rubbed. The last one is ahi panca lime aioli & queso fresco. The corn is served with lobster salad. That's just one example of how creative and unique the menu is at crave. Another item on the menu is the USDA prime cut flat iron steak. This meal comes with brie & garlic confit mashed potato, asparagus and dark cherry steak sauce. See how unique the combinations are at Crave? It's more of an experience dining here than most other places in Akron (or anywhere else).

I can't say enough about the creativity and quality of Crave. for over a decade I've been coming here and they consistently give me a reason to come back. It's affordable enough for a weeknight takeout meal, but refined enough for a date night or special occasion. The bar always has a great energy on weeknights after work too. Check out their wine or beer tasting nights. Not to mention you can sit outside when the weather is nice, or reserve their private area for big groups. You cannot go wrong with Crave. Jeremy D.

Alexander Pierce

Alexander Pierce says it is a casually sophisticated restaurant that serves up savory meals, craft cocktails, and personal service. There is a hidden courtyard entrance which is really cool and unique. It makes going here kind of like a secret. I like that. The Alexander Pierce custom burger comes with a brioche bun, local lettuce, pickle, bermuda onion, tomato an cheese. You can even have a vegetarian option or add some bacon if you'd like on it, too. The burger is served with house chips. It's worth noting that the menu at this restaurant isn't very large. I don't mind that myself. Each item they make is great. It is focused on appetizers, steaks, sandwiches, salad, seafood and pasta bowls.

I discovered this place on Yelp and I'm SO glad I did! Alexander Pierce is wonderful. We ate inside which has a great atmosphere but I wouldn't mind eating outside next time! We ordered drinks and then bruschetta and calamari for appetizers. Both were excellent. Now, dinner is what really blew me away. I ordered the 16 ounce lobster tail which comes with a side and a salad, (I ordered the whipped potatoes and a Caesar salad!) I hardly get full on lobster but I was STUFFED afterwards. We will definitely be back again and I can't wait! Brittany F.

Those are the three best sit-down restaurants in Akron in my opinion. What are some of your favorites?
