Change Your Life With These 6 Questions

It’s not as hard as you think to completely change your life. All you have to do is ask the right questions and answer them honestly.

If you don’t like the answers, then come up with new answers.

Then strive to make those answers a reality. How? You are much, much smarter than you think you are. Put in the work. Ask for help too if you know you need it. I’m not saying it’s easy, but it doesn’t have to be complicated.

So, before you dive in, I highly recommend having a piece of paper and a pen to jot down your ideas to these questions.

Okay, now let’s move on to the questions:

1. What are three things that make you happy?

Keep in mind that happiness is often misinterpreted. You cannot feel happy all the time. And happiness does not mean feeling perfect. If you’d like you can substitute the word satisfied or even content for happy. Satisfaction and contentment are often a bit easier to understand.

2. What are the three songs that make you feel alive?

Those songs that make you turn up the volume and feel a surge of energy. These are the songs that make you feel totally different.

3. List three places that make you feel happy.

These don’t have to be exotic locations on a white sandy beach, either. Whatever locations make you feel satisfied and content and at peace. There is a common thread there.

4. What are the three things that you’re good at?

Not sure? Ask a friend for feedback. We often don’t know what we are good at because it comes naturally. Take the Strengthsfinder test (this one is free). Try taking the Enneagram. These tools (and ones like them) can definitely help.

5. List three people that can help you turn your dreams into reality.

Once you have a few names, contact them! The worst thing they can tell you, is no, right? Get on it. Even if you hear no from all three people, you know you can just make another list.

6. What is the biggest thing holding you back right now?

Another way to word this would be, if you could make one positive change in your life that would propel you forward, what would it be?

I know this one is EXTRA hard. But please think about it. There’s a reason this question is last. It will likely take more time to answer.

A Final Word

Being honest with yourself is a common thread throughout all of these questions. The more honest you can be, the more you will learn and grow. However, when you lie to yourself — intentionally or subconsciously — you’ll only hold yourself back. Start being really honest with yourself starting today.
