A language plays a vital role in the educational system of a country especially the English language which is the lingua Franca of the world.

It is the language of communication, politics, diplomacy, trade and commerce, science and technology, education, learning, and media on an international level and therefore its importance in the educational system of a country cannot be ignored.

The Major components of English

Moreover, It is a major component in shaping the curriculum of not only English speaking countries but also of
Non-Native English-speaking countries. In some countries, English is declared as a compulsory subject in all levels of education.

Thus English has assumed greater importance in the educational system of a country and is considered a major component in shaping the curriculum of a country.

Additionally, the English language is the language of education and learning globally. It is the medium of instruction or language of instruction in reputed educational institutions of not only English-speaking countries but also of Non-Native English-speaking countries. In a classroom, the whole teaching-learning process is carried out in language or languages.

Furthermore, In the bilingual education system and multilingual education system, several languages are used for imparting education to the students or learners.

Bilingual Education System

In a classroom, all oral and written communication is carried in language and therefore language is a key to learning and education. Thus, language and education are closed related.

Important knowledge regarding scientific research and tertiary education is available in the English language. So, the English language is key to getting access to important knowledge.

English speaking importance

In addition to that, the English language is also mandatory for getting admissions in the reputed institutions of the world. Because it is difficult to gain important knowledge and education without the English language.

English has become a market-oriented subject, especially in Non-Native English-speaking countries. Interestingly, English is a subject of immediate application in the market in such countries and can guarantee more opportunities for earning livelihood and subsistence. Therefore English as a subject is a major component in shaping the curriculum of such countries.

In a nutshell, books and dictionaries are written in a language and hence knowledge and education cannot be gained without a language. Therefore language especially the English language has occupied an important position in any educational system.
