Have fun with your four-legged best friend in Houston

Jessica Yang

HOUSTON, TX - Houston is a city with an increasing number of hot locations that show a lot of affection to those four-legged companions. The Dog-Friendly Houston organization works tirelessly for businesses to become more dog-friendly, so your best friend can have as much fun as you.

  • Restaurants
Houston has many restaurants and some of the best restaurants invite your dogs to dine together with you. Sit outdoors on The Barking Pig's dog-friendly patio and enjoy Houston's ever-changing weather, or visit Barnaby's Café in Midtown for a more affordable option. Other dog-friendly restaurants in Houston include Good Dog Houston, Backstreet Café, Tacos a Go Go, and Liberty Café.
  • Bars
Porch Swing Pub's happy hour just became a lot happier, with 38 beers on tap and space for your pet to hang out. The Black Labrador Pub is named after a dog, so you know you and your beloved pet will have a wonderful time here. Look into Axelrad, Saint Dane's, and Cottonwood.
  • Pet Salons
Everybody loves a great spa day, including your pet. There are a lot of pet salons in Houston that specialize in pampering your dog. So, while you're off and about, put your dog in the capable hands of Dog House Pet Salon. You can also monitor your dog with their pet cam. If you just stay at home for the day, Haute Pets Salon will come to you to provide your pet a massage, a puppy pedicure, a dental examination, and other services. A Dog's Dream and John Andrews Pet Spa are two more possibilities.
  • Parks
Thankfully, we have a lot of parks, including dog parks. Parks and dog parks are the best places to hang out, meet new people, and make new friends for you and your dogs. The Bay Area Dog Park is a fenced-in area with separate portions for little and large dogs, as well as lots of open room to let off some steam. If you're staying downtown, Discovery Green is a great spot to walk your dog, and Hermann and Tranquility parks are nearby. Bring a leash if you have one.
