HOUSTON, TX — Tachyus, a data company that specializes in energy production for the oil and gas industry, recently declared the launch of AURION. It is their latest Data Physics-driven energy industry solution that measures carbon footprint efficiently and accurately while monitoring critical sources of emissions. AURION helps operators measure, model and optimize carbon intensity.

The oil and gas industry confronts unprecedented burden and pressure to redefine itself following the growing worldwide general agreement about the impacts of climate change. As a result, the sector is obliged to access and utilize a comprehensive carbon intensity platform. This requirement is further accelerated by regulatory, investor, consumer and market forces and, in most cases, making it mandatory for companies to report their carbon footprints.

This platform, AURION, fulfills the challenge by integrating multiple data sources to produce fast, reliable, and accurate estimates of carbon intensity. In addition, AURION will standardize and benchmark carbon intensity across different assets, while also providing insights into critical factors impacting carbon intensity levels and the change of operational scenarios that can impact future carbon intensity.

Furthermore, Tachyus Carbon Estimation and Forecasting platform uses the industry-standard Oil Production Greenhouse Gas Emissions Estimator (OPGEE) tool that adheres to the GHG Protocol and was developed by Stanford University and California Air Resources Board (CARB). It has been utilized to report carbon intensity for more than 9,000 fields all over the world, with results published in the prestigious Science Magazine.

Tachyus Chief Scientist, Dr. Pallav Sarma said that Aurion represents a step-change in monitoring and mitigating carbon output. Sarma also added that by providing a robust, reliable, cloud scalable, collaborative platform for estimation and forecasting of carbon intensity, they have extended the usability of OPGEE significantly.

Established in 2013 and headquartered in Berkeley, California, Tachyus is a data company that creates technology to optimize energy production for the oil and gas industry. Their platform unites analytics software and sensors that measure real-time data to increase production, decrease lease operating expenses and boost profits.
