Think Travel Can't Make You Rich? Think Again!

Jessica Ufuoma

We've all heard the famous words, "travel is the only thing you buy that can make you richer" and while I'm not one to overuse quotes just for the sake of it, this is one I agree to. But let's face it - travel costs money. The flights, the hotels, the activities, the shopping. So how is it possible for it to make you rich?

How can travel make you rich?

I've had my fair share of travel experiences around the globe and can confidently tell you one thing, the memories and experiences are priceless. If you do it well, you definitely come up on top and a much better person overall.

Travel is an investment

When you start to see travel for what it really is - an investment, you'll see clearly how it can make you rich. According to the dictionary, investment is to allocate money in the expectation of some benefit in the future. When you allocate money towards a travel budget, buy a flight ticket, or buy three nights at a hotel, you are investing in your physical and mental health. This investment can yield many results in the future such as a better outlook on life, more physical strength, and fitness to do your work well, and an even greater appreciation for life in general.

Travel can translate into a better career overall

The most successful people in the workforce are those who are great at networking, assertive, and confident. Travel can give you this kind of edge. You naturally become a good networker when you meet many people around the world, understand their culture, and understand certain nuances when it comes to interacting with people. Travel can also build your confidence as you navigate your way around the world. All of these can have a positive impact on your career, lead to promotions and/or more clients, and ultimately put more money in your pocket.

Travel makes you more interesting

The more you travel, the more stories you can tell, and the more willing people are to listen to you. Travel can make you a more interesting and fun person to be with, after all, everyone wants to hear about that hike to Macchu Picchu. The most interesting people attract many opportunities, people, and open doors to themselves. Everyone wants to hear from them and absorb their energy. The more open doors, the more possibilities to gain some financial reward that will lead to an even more financially free future.

Travel can make you physically fit

All the hiking, early wake-up calls, excursions and explorations, and even running to catch a flight, can make you more physically fit than the average person. We all know health is wealth and this is a major benefit for those who travel the world. The healthier you are, the more you're able to do great things in your life and community.

Travel can be a launchpad to a new career

Your expertise in travel can lead to a new career or new source of income. From travel writing to affiliates, to becoming a travel consultant or agent or even selling off some of your cool travel photos. You can definitely make some extra income through your passion for travel.

If you think travel cannot make you rich, think again!
