Nevada candidate arrested for robbery charges

According to court and jail records, a candidate for the Nevada Assembly has been arrested for attempted robbery.

La Juana Clark is the up-and-coming Democratic contender running against the current officeholder Selena Torres in Assembly District 3, located in the northwest Las Vegas Valley.

Clark’s political campaign does not have an official website, so there’s little information about it. But with the robbery charges, it is doubtful she’ll be out campaigning any time soon.

According to one report from The Las Vegas Review-Journal, Clark was taken into custody on April 16, 2022. Police linked the 47-year-old to a bank robbery on West Craig Road and North Tenaya Way at 12:17 pm the same day. This is right outside the district Clark was representing.

According to a report from the Metropolitan Police Department, Clark asked the bank clerk for 888 dollars at gunpoint, who ended up handing her 1000 dollars instead.

The police were able to identify her from the note she wrote to the Bank CEO with her name and address on it. Clark wrote that she was sorry it came to this and that it was a desperate cry for help.

She’s currently being held at the Clark County Detention Center, with her bail set at 20,000 dollars. Some sources report this figure to be 10,000 dollars, while others say 25,000 dollars.

The plot gets thicker as we’ve found out that she withdrew her candidacy last week or at least hinted at doing so.

The democratic candidate was scheduled for an interview with the Review-Journal but ended up canceling it. She then wrote an email to the news agency to explain herself. She said that she could not imagine wanting to serve this state after being a victim of so many horrendous crimes.

Clark is most probably referring to how she was evicted without a renewal notice for her lease. She talked about it on her Facebook account. Her posts revealed that she had been dealing with financial troubles for a while now.

Considering how apologetic the assembly candidate was during the police interview, it’s very much possible that these circumstances pushed her to take such measures.

She closed off the email by saying that she had nothing left to say, but when she does speak again, the world will know who God truly is. She didn’t mention anything about the future of her political campaign either.
