Three States Are Closing the Gap on Herd Immunity, Where Does Your State Rank?

Jessica Lynn

According to the World Health Organization (WHO),

'Herd immunity,' also known as 'population immunity,' is the indirect protection from an infectious disease that happens when a population is immune either through vaccination or immunity developed through previous infection.'

If everyone gets the vaccine, we look out for the whole and stop the virus in its tracks. If we don't reach herd immunity (80–90% of the population vaccinated), we will be dealing with some version of the virus for the next two decades or more, as we are now experiencing the Delta variant. Let's hope the United States doesn't make it through the Greek alphabet, and more people get vaccinated.

Viruses don't mutate if they can't replicate.

If we stop transmission and replication, we won't get any more variants. It is really that simple.

Three states are closing in on herd immunity.

What can we do to encourage those not vaccinated to get their mRNA shot to protect the community at large, so we can squash this virus?
