CHARLOTTE, NC — Charlotte Area Transit System is planning to launch an improved version of its CATS PASS Mobile Ticketing app later this month. Customers are advised to use any funds in their cash wallet or tickets by August 22, 2021.

The new app is the improvement of the old version that will include several upgrade features. The new app will offer more ticket options for customers. It will also have a multi-language feature.

Customers will be able to get alert notifications for routes and schedules and a trip-planning feature. The new app will accept Google or Apple Pay as a payment method.

Unused funds and tickets can be exchanged with tokens at CATS Customer Service Office at the Charlotte Transportation Center, sales locations at LYNX Blue Line JW Clay Station and LYNX Blue Line I-485/South Blvd Station. The tokens can be used as payment for fares in CATS fare boxes and ticket vending machines.

Unused one-ride tickets will be exchanged with one token, while unused one-day tickets will be exchanged with three tokens or one-day passes. For unused weekly tickets, customers will receive a seven-day punch pass in exchange. The exchange will be processed through August 22. No cash refunds will be accommodated.
