Events in Reno Sparks Labor Day Weekend: Ribs, DJ’s and the Weird Reno Tour

Jenny Justice

The 2021 Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook off kicked off on September 1st and runs through September 6th. It sounds like the perfect way to spend your Labor Day weekend.

The event is held in Sparks, in Victorian Square just near the Nugget Casino Resort. It will feature 22 of the nation’s best high volume rib cookers who will fight for the title of Best in the West.

This is an amazing way to end the summer and enter into the Fall season. In addition to ribs, the event will have a kid’s activity area, tons of craft and merchant vendors, and a lot of free entertainment including 10,000 Maniacs and Uncle Kracker, of 80’s and 90’s fame.

If you want to check out an indoor activity on Friday night, head over to the Grand Sierra, Diplo will be taking over the LEX Nightclub. Also on Friday night at the GSR you might want to check out the Late Night Swim.

Also this weekend if you haven’t already, or even if you have I highly recommend checking out one of my personal favorite events in this city, the Weird Reno Walking Tour. They are winding down their season and I cannot recommend this event enough. I have been countless times and every time I am on the tour, I enjoy it and those I am with enjoy it. Do yourself a favor and get a ticket or two today at Weird Reno’s website.
