Did you get your tickets yet? I know I did. And how exciting is it that the Reno Phil is going to be taking us back in time to the golden era of Reno, and music with their 2021 Pops on the River fundraiser? The event will take place on July 10th in the Rancho San Rafael Park, in Reno.

This event looks like a blast. The music will honor “The First Lady of Song” Ella Fitzgerald and include hits from the beloved, Great American Songbook such as “How High The Moon,” “Summertime,” and “A-Tisket, A-Tasket.” The Reno Phil Orchestra, led by Maestro Laura Jackson, along with vocalists Capathia Jenkins and Aisha de Haas will put on a wonderful summer concert in the park. These are wonderful songs from a wonderful era and we are so lucky to have so much music, culture, and history in our Biggest Little City!

In addition to the music and summer night ambiance, Pops on the River is unforgettable for putting the fun in fundraiser with a themed costume contest table by table. Awesome right? Tables are judged and prizes are awarded for the following categories:

  • Most Historic
  • Most Outrageous
  • Most Elegant
  • Best Golden Era of Reno Theme
  • & of course, Best of Show!

I recommend dressing up even if you do not plan to enter the contest because where else will you get the chance to invite in those Golden Era of Reno vibes. Check the Reno Phil website for more information, to see if tickets are still available or to learn more about the do’s and don’ts of the event and park in terms of what to bring, when to arrive, and how to ensure it is all COVID safe. And of course, for fun you can check out past Pops on the River shows and costumes on the website as well!
