How amazing would it be if you have a place named after your name, just like Disneyland? In 2001 Randell Lawrence, an artist who lives in Echo Park, had a dream. A fantasy-Esque dream.
He worked hard ever since, and now his dream can be seen in physical form in Phantasma Gloria at Randyland (Randy from his name). Randell has been working rigorously since 2001, and although he has completed his dream, He still tries to perfect it and works on it continuously.
Luckily, I also had a chance to visit it a while back. As per Randell’s suggestion, I visited it at about 10 AM. This is because, at 10 AM, the angle of sunlight makes for perfect reflection from all the pieces of Phantasma Gloria, making it a sight to behold.
Phantasma Gloria is an enormous artistic masterpiece made up of glass bottles, hanging wires and coloured water. The bottles are arranged in such a splendid manner that it produces interesting patterns that create scintillating light dispersion.
Although you can see many pictures of Randyland and Phantasma Gloria, however, trust me, the joy of witnessing its greatness in person is entirely different. It definitely seems to be in a league of its own.
In a city filled with mesmerizing views and exciting places, this not so popular gem is truly a dynamic masterpiece that you wouldn’t want to miss. So, why wait? Book an appointment (hopefully at 10 AM) and get your sights on something sensational at Randyland.
