Bring a furry friend into your life this September. Adoption fees are waived this month at Chicago Animal Care and Control.
(CHICAGO) If you've been considering adopting a new dog or cat, you can do so for free this month at Chicago Animal Care and Control.
The shelter, located at 2741 S. Western Avenue, announced in a social media post via X (formerly known as Twitter) that they are waiving fees for all adoptions through September. "Help break the cycle of pet overpopulation and adopt from a shelter," the post reads.
How to adopt from Chicago Animal Care and Control?
You can check out the up-to-date list of available cats, dogs, and other adoptable animals at PetHarbor.com/Chicago. When you arrive at the shelter, you will need to fill out an adoption questionnaire, or you can fill it out online ahead of time at Chicago.gov/cacc.
All shelter animals are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. The shelter is open from 12 PM to 7 PM daily, although prospective pet parents should arrive before 6 PM.
Should you adopt a pet?
It's a tough decision to know if you have the time and resources to take care of an animal. Pets can be expensive with vet bills, accessories, food, training, pet walkers, boarding, and emergencies.
And if you're renting you need to be sure your housing situation allows for pets. And finally, animals need a lot of attention. Does your lifestyle allow you the time to devote to a pet?
