Christmas tree shortages happening?

If you've been watching the news, you know that supply shortages are impacting people on a global scale. From shortages in microchip processors to chicken wings, used cars and more, nobody is immune from these supply chain issues.

But, are there shortages in Christmas trees?

Here's why...

Christmas tree shortage crisis of 2021

Supply chain issues and climate chain are the culprit of possible Christmas tree shortages that are expected to happen, according to this story.

Are fresh or artificial trees being impacted?

Yes, both fresh trees and artificial Christmas trees are going to be in short supply this holiday season. Fewer trees and higher prices are what you can expect from the market.

If you're in need of a tree this year, experts say, don't wait.

Chris Butler, CEO of National Tree Company says:

The demand this year is going to be extremely strong and so I think from a consumer perspective people definitely shouldn’t wait,
Consumers should buy now because by the time we get to Thanksgiving, which is a peak week for us, I think there’s going to be a lot of empty shelves. We’re seeing pretty strong growth right now already versus last year and so, I do think that we’re in for a big, big season this year,

Supply chain disruptions are impacting supply.

Christmas tree growers are experiencing slower shipping times which is causing big delays with getting trees out to the market.

Then, events like wildfires, floods, and of course, COVID-19 add to the lower supply as well.

Bottom line

Christmas trees (real and artificial) will be short supply this year.

There's no need to panic but if you need a tree this year, it may not fare well to wait until the holiday sales of Black Friday and pre-Christmas. Look at getting your tree earlier than normal this year.

What do you think about the supply chain crisis impacting the Christmas tree supply?

Have you got your tree this year?
