Free cable TV: How to stream movies and TV shows for free

Jenn Leach

Cable TV is expensive when you're paying for it.

It's not unusual to rack up a bill exceeding $150+ and sometimes it feels like a necessary expense to have access to this entertainment for your family.

Did you know there are thousands of movies and TV shows available to stream for free?

Whether you're in the mood to watch reality TV, horror, a romantic comedy, cartoons or a family movie, you can find what you're looking for from this list of free cable TV networks.

Let's go!

With Peacock you can watch live sports, movies, TV shows and more. They have an extensive collection to satisfy whatever mood you're in.

They have a variety of plans to choose from, ranging from free to $9.99/month.

If you don't mind watching the ads, the free plan is available to help you save money on your cable bill.

FreeCable TV

Thousands of TV shows and over 300 movies available at your fingertips, totally for free, no strings attached at FreeCable TV.

Shows like The Simpsons, Masterchef Junior, Dr. Mercy, The Masked Singer, 9-1-1, Chicago Fire, and others are on FreeCable TV.

You can also watch breaking news as it happens, too.

Joining is simple and they never ask for your credit card.

Crackle TV

Your favorite movies are available on Crackle TV in uncut and unedited versions, too!

All you do is sign up then activate Crackle on your device and you're set!

Amazon Prime

If you're a member of Amazon Prime then you have access to Prime Video which gives you tons of movies and TV show titles to choose from.

An Amazon Prime membership isn't free but if you're paying for it anyway, take full advantage of the benefits of your membership and watch free movies and TV shows.

Fubo TV is your source for free live sports and TV shows. The channel lineup will vary based on your area but where I live in the Greater Houston area, there are over 200 channels available including ABC, Fox, Cooking Channel, ESPN, National Geographic and others.

There are several paid plans available but most of them come with a 7-day free trial so you can test and try out Fubo TV free for a week.

Tubi TV offers 20,000+ free, premium and on-demand movies and TV shows. You can watch online and get the Tubi app on many devices like Smart TVs, your tablet, etc.

How to Train Your Dragon, Battlestar Galatica, Dance Moms, Masterchef and other titles are available. They also have a kids section and live TV options.

Which free cable TV service will you try?

As the season changes and we get closer to Winter, you'll want to snuggle up on the couch and enjoy a good movie with your loved ones.

That experience doesn't have to break the bank.

If you've been wanting to ditch your cable or find a cheaper alternative, just know that there are plenty of options available.

Did you know that free cable TV exists? Do you have any of these services? What do you think of them?
