Carlo's Bakery is an eastern US-based bakery chain. I first discovered the bakery because they were on the Food Network show called Cake Boss. Everything they made looked absolutely delicious and I never thought of that one day I would get the chance to try the food.

Several years later I found myself in New York City and I begged my boyfriend (now husband) to take me to Carlo’s Bakery.

We went to the Hoboken, New Jersey location. It was a small bakery and it was totally packed. There was a line and luckily we didn’t have to wait inside but it took about 20 or 30 minutes to get the food and go back home.

I ordered a bunch of different stuff and this was my first experience with Carlo’s.

In this review I’m going to share with you my overall impression, experience, and feelings on the food and service at Carlo’s Bakery.

Carlo’s Bakery is located all across the U.S. now. They deliver nationwide via Goldbelly, too.

This review is going to be for the San Antonio, Texas location in the La Cantera shopping center. They are located on level 1 near Forever 21.

Let's go!

The Food

They serve baked goods. From cookies, to cakes, pastries, eclairs, and more. The first time I had Carlo’s Bakery was in New York City and I was totally blown away. When I discovered that it was in the mall in my city, San Antonio, I was delighted and I got my fill one day.

I ordered two cake slices, assorted cookies, a few other pastries, the lobster tail and cannolis. The cannolis are my absolute favorite.

The pastry cream is divine and unlike anything I’ve ever tasted.

The cannoli shell is crisp and not soggy. The filling is creamy, rich and light at the same time and it’s filled with chocolate chips. The whole thing is like a party in your mouth and I can eat these things every single day of my life.

I was also super stoked to try the lobster tail which makes my mouth water when I watch it on television. It’s a flaky pastry shaped like a lobster tail or like a cone and it’s filled with a rich yummy Bavarian cream-like filling. The cookies are also super delicious and the rainbow cake is a favorite for my son and I.

The Experience

I always have a pleasant experience here. Even when the restaurant is packed, all the staff has a friendly face and some (maybe all) of the locations have a clear glass window area where you can peek in and watch them make pastries. You could also find merchandise there like bags, T-shirts and more if you’re a fan of the brand.

Overall impression

Carlo's Bakery is my favorite bakery.

Hands-down, 10 out of 10.

Everything I’ve had a I’ve absolutely loved. I enjoy the cookies, pastries and cakes. My husband loves chocolate so anything chocolate-flavored is good for him, and my son is crazy about the rainbow cake. lairs and lobster tails, as well . Everything is so good.

I once went to travel an hour and a half from where I live to visit the nearest Carlo’s Bakery so I could indulge and it was totally worth it. The prices are reasonable and this is a place you definitely have to try in your lifetime. If you’re near a Carlo's Bakery or visiting a city that has one like NYC, San Antonio, or Orlando, you have definitely got to try this place.
