Jenn Leach

Have you been there? I know I have. You're in a bind and you need to raise some quick cash. It can happen to many of us, don't sweat it.

When you need money fast, one of the best ways to achieve this is by selling.

You sell stuff and you can do that quickly and easily with flipping.

Flipping is a cool way to make money and you can even pursue it part-time or full-time as a side hustle.

Another neat benefit of flipping is that when you source goods from your home, you can clean out your house and make money doing it! It's like getting paid to clean out your house.

If you are looking for some ideas to sell some stuff around your house or even source some goods locally for flipping, keep reading to learn about these 10 easy things to flip for quick cash.

What Are the Easiest Things to Flip?

There are many products you can flip.

You can flip just about anything, including:

  • Apparel
  • Jewelry
  • Pet supplies
  • Baby goods
  • Toys
  • And, more!

You can even flip digital goods like websites and domains, or assets like houses and cars.

Flipping is literally all around us.

It's built into the retail industry.

Think about consignment shops, pawn shops, retail stores, etc. It's all about flipping.

They buy wholesale goods and flip by selling at retail prices.

10 Things to Flip for Cash

Flipping is a great way to raise extra cash quickly.

This is a real opportunity to make extra money scam-free. Check out these ideas.

1. Clothes

Clothes are super easy to sell.

This includes womens, mens, and kids/baby clothes. You outgrow clothes, by losing and gaining weight or growing (like kids). Instead of storing those old pieces like your high school prom dress or wedding dress, flip it for cash!

You can sell on places like Mercari, Poshmark, Ebay, and more places online.

In person, you can head to consignment stores or consider hosting your own garage sale.

There can be a lot of money in flipping clothes, especially vintage or designer pieces.

Accessories are included in this so keep scarves, knits, gloves, hats and other accessories in mind here too.

2. Toys

Toys are great to flip too and an awesome way to get rid of old toys your kids do not play with any more.

Action figures, barbie dolls, race cars, stuffed animals, all of it.

I try to do this every season as my son can really accumulate toys fast during the year from birthdays, special occasions, etc.

I get to clean out his toy chest and make money while doing it!

3. Designer Goods

The luxury market is huge and selling your designer goods from Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, Armani, and other brands are great for flipping. And, can be very lucrative.

Handbags, outerwear and any other designer goods you have can be flipped.

I sold a designer peacoat two winters ago on Mercari. It sold within 4 days of listing!

4. Small Appliances

Think about small appliances you have in your kitchen. Even those ones you were gifted and never opened like the soft serve ice ,cream maker I have in storage that I need to flip.

New or used, you can still sell this stuff.

It helps you clean out your kitchen counter and cupboards while raising cash at the same time.

Some ideas to get you started:

  • Coffee makers
  • Bread makers
  • Blenders
  • Toasters
  • Heating elements
  • Griddles
  • And, more!

Just look around your kitchen and pile up your small appliances that you would sell.

5. Workout equipment

Workout gear and equipment are golden opportunities for flipping. Try selling this in person since a lot of equipment can be heavy and expensive to ship.

This might include:

  • Treadmills
  • Stairmaster
  • Elliptical
  • Stationary bike
  • Free weights

Other ideas to consider include yoga gear, jump ropes and anything workout-related, even workout videos. I bought the P90X workout system in used condition for almost half the price and in perfect condition, right online from Ebay several years ago.

Marketplaces like Nextdoor, Facebook Marketplace and places like LetGo are great for selling in person.

6. Websites

Website flipping is another opportunity to make money.

I started flipping websites around five years ago. It's easier than you might think and you don't have to be tech-savvy to excel doing this.

First, build a website or buy a website.

Building a website is cheaper but requires more work. Buying a website shortcuts the building process but there is more of an investment required up front.

Then, you'll optimize and improve the website. Later, you can flip it for a profit when the time is right for you. I've flipped websites that were 30 days old and I've sold websites that were 2+ years old.

There is a lot of flexibility in this side hustle and you can take it full-time too, making up to six figures annually or more.

7. Cars

Flipping cars is a little more advanced compared to flipping your kitchen appliances but don't let this scare you away.

A family friend of ours actually does car flipping for a living. He buys cars for a cheap price, usually at auction. Then, he fixes up the vehicle (if needed) and resells the vehicles for profit.

You may or may not need an up front investment to get started. If you have a vehicle of your own to sell, you can start there and use that profit to fuel the business and future car flips.

If not, it may require a few thousand dollars or more to buy your first vehicle to kick off this business. If you are a car lover, this may be a passion business for you.

Either way, it's an opportunity to make money in a side hustle or full-time business.

8. Houses

House flipping is something that you may know a little more about.

People have been flipping houses for decades.

You start by buying real estate at a great price, which you can secure from foreclosure sales, for example.

Then fix up the house, renovate and resell for a profit.

This can be very rewarding.

9. Sneakers

Sneaker selling is huge and it has exploded in recent years. You can get sneakers at regular price and resell at a huge markup.

There's a very passionate audience in this industry.

Tons of sellers are doing this and if you go to YouTube or watch a documentary on it, you can learn a lot more.

10. Jewelry

Jewelry, especially gold jewelry is great for making money flipping. Take those jewelry pieces you don’t wear anymore and sell them online or in person.

You can even get a great price at pawn shops, sometimes.

Best Things to Sell on Ebay

The best items to sell on Ebay are small items that can be shipped for cheap.

You want to avoid selling bulky or heavy items on Ebay, as shipping can be quite expensive. It can take longer to ship, too.

I have had success selling clothes, toys, small appliances and other goods.

Clothes, shoes, toys, and other small items like that are perfect for things to sell on Ebay.

Best Things to Sell in Person

As far as the best things to sell in person, that would include heavy or bulky items like workout equipment or furniture.

For a quick sale, goods that can be sold at pawn shops like designer goods, jewelry, electronics, and some home goods like lawn mowers or vacuum cleaners can be a smart direction to take, if you need money today.

And, if you don't mind waiting a while for your stuff to sell, you could go to consignment shops and drop your stuff off really fast. This will get it out of your house and you can earn money once your things sell.

What Are The Easiest Things to Flip?

This wraps it up.

To recap, the 10 easiest things to flip for quick cash include:

  • Clothes
  • Toys
  • Designer Goods
  • Small Appliances
  • Workout gear/goods
