Kid-friendly activities to do in St. Tammany (part 2)

Jean-Baptiste Dickens

COVINGTON, LA - This is the final part of what you can do with your kids at St. Tammany Parish. Be sure to check the previous part to get more information.

Check out the Mandeville Lakefront

Take your kids on a walk or cycle together on the seawall paths located under moss-covered oak trees. Kids can have fun at the playgrounds located on the east and west ends of Mandeville Lakefront, as well as swing sets near the intersection of Lakeshore and Carol Street.

Abita Mystery House and UCM Museum

This quaint attraction was formerly a vintage gas station in Abita Springs. It has thousands of eccentric items displayed here. The Abita Mystery House and UCM Museum offer several weird creatures as well.

Splash play

Get your kids soaked as they play with the water spray in various places. Both Abita Springs and Mandeville have interactive water fountains for kids to enjoy. Take them to Pearl River Water Park at James Lavigne Park, Mandeville’s Fontainebleau State Park, and many other water parks in St. Tammany.

Cycle the Tammany Trace

Enjoy a bike ride at Tammany Trace, a 31-mile in length trail. Find the best route for your kids by consulting the trail map that includes playgrounds, a drawbridge over Bayou Lacombe, and splash pads. Rent a bike from Brooks’ Bike Shop in Covington, Mandeville, and Slidell.

Go camping

Mandeville’s Fontainebleau State Park is facing Lake Pontchartrain. Enjoy the sandy beach and swim in the shallow lake area. You can stay a night by camping, glamping, or at the cabin here as well.

As for Fairview-Riverside State Park, it faces the Tchefuncte River. Enjoy a boat tour in the afternoon with life jackets provided.
